Nobody Knows This
Hand embroidery on cotton fabric
2022
The almost invisible embroidery on the fabric is a commentary on the often unacknowledged presence of Jewish cuisine in Polish everyday life. The fabric is a documentation of the artist’s meetings with women from the Jewish community. One can try to decipher fragments of the interlocutors’ statements about Jewish cuisine, names of dishes, and words.
The work is in the collection of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Polin.
