Creation of the World
Drawing
2014-2017
220x320 cm
A series of drawings on fabric created in collaboration with my son and children who joined our workshops. Each tells the story of the creation of the world seen from a different, non-human perspective. We took on the point of view of animals, plants, planets, and bacteria. Turtles, cacti, fungi, and stars advised us how to draw the world as seen through their eyes. Sometimes we were accompanied by scientists who shared their knowledge and discoveries on particular topics. We transcribed the hypotheses that arose at those meeting, by drawing on the material with markers.
First, there was a squid and a turtle. The turtle ate a butterfly and turned into a bird, who then spread its genes among the fish, and the fish began to fly. They flew to the steppes, where they lived with monkeys. After a century, the first bat was born.
The works were awarded the Grand Prix of the International Triennial of Drawing in Wrocław (2019).
