Monika Drożyńska’s solo exhibition, Water and Wine, is a tale about language and its relationship with religion. The artist, originally from Gorlice, Poland, tackles these themes as only a Polish girl would. Drożyńska uses the technique of hand embroidery, which she considers as a political activity. She combines different, often divergent views and ideas and juxtaposes words and meanings, which only seemingly appear unrelated. In this way, she creates new meanings and sometimes even new languages. During the exhibition, a performance of Flag No. 5 was held and streamed into the gallery space at the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute, and the opening and works shown at the exhibition were part of theatrical set design.
