boat/boat is a work I created in my flat. For many years, my balcony overlooked the Vistula River, the nearby boulevards, and Wawel Castle. As the years went by and the real-estate development boom commenced, new structures arose beneath my windows, eventually obscuring my view. In order to reclaim the space taken away from me, I used a large photograph of the sea. With it, I blocked out everything I didn’t want to see. I referred to the remainder as a boat, and just hoped that it would sail away.
