Monika Drożyńska’s son, Tymon, wrote a story about OKruszynka for a school assignment. The title of his story and the titular character’s name was inspired by the protagonist in The Three Electro-Knights by Stanislaw Lem [In Lem’s original story – translated as Midget-widget]
Tymon’s story was embroidered and animated. The work takes the form of a video, with Tymon reading the text, and the various letters acting as characters in the video.
The artist has collaborated with her son several times before. They presented collaborative artworks at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art (2020) and the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art (2017).
“Cybernic Electroknight settled on a planet known as Eton. Here and there there were many wars to win OKruszynka. The bitknowledge it contained would allow the winner to rule the entire Galaxy. For centuries on end many many Bitknights came to take OKruszynka’s legendary knowledge as their own. Conditions on the planet were rough and none of the cyberknights managed to defeat Electroknight. The planet had two sides: one dark and gloomy and the other built from algorithmic zeroes and ones. Many multi-bit tribes joined forces to claim OKruszynka from the hands of the great knight. They attacked Electroknight with their conspiracy of twos and threes. In their quark headquarters the bots decided to throw him into a chamber made of titanium. Many, many bits later, suddenly and abruptly, the world came to an end. Only Electroknight and OKruszynka survived. United by the entire galaxy forever, from then on, they ruled the universe with love leading to its rebirth.”
