In this series, Drożyńska expands her linguistic explorations and polemics regarding the meanings of words. She disassembles them into separate fragments which, reassembled or disassembled, can offer different meanings. She combines words in different languages, bringing attention to the contractual nature of language. While working on these pieces, which resemble densely filled notebook pages, the artist introduced the phrase “writing embroidery.” She uses words from different languages and combines or separates them, establishing an expanded relationship between language and the world. The Polish word “ofiara” is written as: “off und ara,” and “grzech” is “grr z ech.”
